Merlin Underwriting was created to find a solution to an industry wide practice commonly seen in the construction sector. This involves multiple coverages placed for a single project with different insurers, frequently resulting with insurers denying liability. On occasion the Insured, through no fault of their own will be caught in disputes between insurance companies over the responsibility of the claim. This typically creates lengthy delays before claims payments are made, often leaving customers in a tough financial situation.
The solution – the creation of MERLIN UNITY, where the customer is the primary focus. To facilitate the coverage, we have a panel of insurers who take a proportional share of each of the three insurance coverages provided under our MERLIN UNITY policy.
What does this mean? We’ve made it a collective responsibility instead of an individual one. Should there be an indemnifiable claim resulting from course of construction, wrap up and / or project Architects and Engineers’ errors and omissions, then the claim is paid without dispute.
